Front-end Voice recognition
In the front-end mode, recognized text is produced in real-time while the Author dictates. In environments where medical reports are typically short ("normal findings") or where there is a shortage of medical transcription resources (Radiology, Pathology, ER), foreground speech recognition allows Authors to correct, sign and release reports faster then ever. It is also a precious alternative to traditional transcription for urgent cases, week-end or night shifts.

- Ability to switch to back-end mode while logged in (no need to log out)

Back-end Voice recognition
Implemented as a back end layer, the system is fully transparent to Authors, who may not even be aware that speech recognition technology is being used. Once the Author has finished dictating, recognized text is produced in the background and sent to the Transcriptionist for correction.
Authors also have the option to correct the recognized text themselves. Once the dictation has been returned from the speech recognition server, Authors can edit the report while performing synchronized playback and sign off both the dictation and report using one single application. In case major re-work is required, they can always decide to return a report to the Transcriptionist (routing defined by Author
